This book sums up my travels as a single Indian woman backpacker. It is also about persistence and determination to follow a dream. It is about learning and letting go, about creating my own experience.

It is about travel – those glorious sunrises on mountaintops, the warmth of strangers, the taste of fried tarantulas… it is about learning to adapt. It is about you and me and every traveler’s dream.

Through “Almost Intrepid”, Anjaly Thomas shows that it’s not important to have fat pockets to travel. Heck, it’s not even important to have a ticket, much less know where your destination is! Once bitten by the mad bug we like to call travelling, getting out and away is all that matters. πŸ˜€

Fraught with adventure, machete-wielding kids and fried tarantulas, “Almost Intrepid” is a must read for anyone who prefers the couch over the great outdoors!

    Truly an inspiring read. πŸ™‚

The title of Anjaly’s debut book – Almost Intrepid – is rather misleading. For she is completely sans fear. Something readers will discover as they vicariously climb a blizzard-bound Mt Kilimanjaro with her, chomp on a tarantula, stare down a Komodo dragon, even. Anecdotal, informative, and narrated with an underlying sense of humour, the book is bound to keep you riveted to the end. As a solo traveller myself, I can say with some certainty that Almost Intrepid will catalyse many an armchair traveller into action.

Anjaly is a good writer, a better human being and an awesome friend. It goes without saying that the last two attributes make her a better writer. A great read for armchair travelers like me.
