I have a few personal Turkish favourites (I will throw in baklava though I don't fancy sweet) that are strictly "meat based" - Adana kebabs top the list.

In Turkey, "nazar" (evil eye) is a very common sight. You find them as beads, key chains, trinkets, door mats or just "nazar" hanging by a decorative thread just about anywhere.

Two plates went straight to the floor at my feet. A saucer followed and then a few dozen spoons. I could have killed myself to save the embarrassment. What was it about a "musafir, Hindustani" that invited such calculated violence?

Sooner or later, everyone visits Turkey and everyone who visits Turkey then speaks of the following - trams, the bazaars, the fish sandwich by the Bosphorous and the Bosphorous Cruise.

To really love Trabzon - it is important to feel the feel the place - with your skin, eyes, nose, feet - anything. It changes your perspective of true Turkey.
