From the numerous statues to the giant cross that overlooks the city from Mt Vodno and the old town streets that hide some very interesting secrets - Skopje provides that unmistakable flavour that is at once extraordinary and real.

Amidst the lush verdure where the River Crn Drim tumbled into the blue Ohrid Lake, was a refuge that I could only describe as Paradise.

Macedonia is one of the least discovered tourists destinations of Europe - but definitely what you call "a hidden gem."
