A border town named Erumadu in Tamil Nadu

A small, border town in Tamil Nadu (The Nilgiris), Erumad is also the first big-small town when you enter Tamil Nadu from Thaloor side in Kerala (Waynad Dt). Essentially a tea growing area, this place being very close to Gudalur and Ooty and hence has pleasant climate all year through.

There are schools, government run colleges, tea factories, tea estates in the area – essentially a self contained little border town.
Wares hanging outside the roadside stores. No mall culture here yet…and hope never.

The town is unrecognizable, when I was Asst. Manager on Wentworth Estate (HML), we used to ride from Choladi to Sulthan’s Battery via Erumad, hardly 3 small shops and a check post. This was in 1994, lot of changes, shall definitely go here when I go to India next time.
