Ohrid in North Macedonia has Europe’s deepest lake. That and the fact that it has a church for everyday of the year.

Sarena Dzamija or the Decorated Mosque (also called Painted Mosque or Coloured Mosque) of Tetova, Macedonia is different from every other mosque I have seen.

On one side is the modern city centre with humongous statues and cafe and shopping malls and on the other is the quaint, old world bazaar with tiny shops selling Indian lace!

Ohrid is about lakes, churches and pearls. And good food, beauty and sports.

From the numerous statues to the giant cross that overlooks the city from Mt Vodno and the old town streets that hide some very interesting secrets - Skopje provides that unmistakable flavour that is at once extraordinary and real.

Amidst the lush verdure where the River Crn Drim tumbled into the blue Ohrid Lake, was a refuge that I could only describe as Paradise.
